We are in February already, the year is passing by quickly again. Thank you to everyone who attended our Installation of Officers. Thanks to all those who helped to make it such an enjoyable afternoon, It was a special honor for me to have our Dinner Dance Guest of Honor, Pat Gallagher present, all the way from Kent, England. He was delighted to meet so many people he knew.

Please join us for our February meeting on Thurday, February 15th, 2018 at The Heritage Bar and Restaurant, McLean Avenue, Yonkers at 7.30 PM. We invite new members, so please if you know somebody bring them along. Payment of dues for 2018 is being accepted and can be paid at this meeting or by mailing to the Financial Secretary at the P.O. Box address above. Dues are $20.00 per person or $30.00 per couple.

Mark your calendar – Our 123rd Annual St. Patrick's Day Dance will take place on Friday March 9th, 2018 at Antun's, 96-43 Springfield, Blvd, Queens Village, NY. The deluxe cocktail hour will begin at 8:00 PM and will be followed by dinner and dancing to the McLean Avenue Band. Tickets are $90.00 each. Please make reservations early and payment prior to the dance is greatly encouraged and appreciated. For reservations, please call Bernadette Dunleavy at (917) 648-2144. Guest of Honor will be Pat Gallagher. Pat was born and raised in Knockacullion, Aughnasheelin. The eldest of two sons to Packie and Lucy (nee Dolan). Pat lives in Kent, England where his very successful business empire has its headquarters. Pat is a frequent visitor to Ballinamore where he has a holiday home. Our Distinguised Service Recipient will be Meg McKeon Baker, who is our current Treasurer. Meg's parents the late Barney and Olive were two highly respected and very proud Leitrim people, both were long serving members of the Society. Congratulations to our two wonderful Guests.

Enclosed is an application for the Scholarship along with a copy of the rules for participation. Please return the completed form to Bernadette Dunleavy, 238 Blackford Avenue, Yonkers, NY 10704 by April 30th 2018. The winners will be drawn at our May meeting. Please read the Rules as changes have been made.

The Lisa Cullen and Baby Kayden Benefit is on Sunday February 11th, 2018 at Rory Dolan's, 890 McLean Avenue, Yonkers from 2-9 PM. The committee has been working very hard over the past two months so anything you can do to support it will be greatly appreciated. Lisa has been responding very well to her treatment so there is great hope. We know this fundraiser will help give her and her baby a brighter future.

The New York St. Patrick's Day Parade & Celebration Committee will honor the 2018 Aides to the Grand Marshall Loretta Brennan Glucksman on Sunday February 18th, from 1-4 pm at Rory Dolan's Restaurant, 890 McLean Avenue, Yonkers, NY. Condolences to Mike Dillon and family on the recent untimely passing of his nephew Declan Dillon, to Mike Carty and the Carty and Shaloo families on the passing of his sister, Margaret Shaloo, to Fr. Matt Grier and family on the death of his brother John Henry (London) and to the family of Alex McGourty (Sligo) who died tragically while kayaking in Ecuador. He was 19 years old, his father Frankie is from Ballinaglera and is a nephew of Ann Reynolds and a brother to Maura Clarke (Drumshanbo), her husband Brian suffered a serious fall two years ago and remains a paraplegic. Please keep the family in your prayers. May all our deceased rest in peace.

Please remember our sick members, Lisa Cullen, Kay McHale,Teresa Reynolds and all those who are sick. We hope they all have a speedy recovery.
